The Lenape Trail is one of the best running experiences in New Jersey - it's amazing how many runners have never heard of it! The Lenape Trail starts at the Newark Broad Street Station and follows and inverted horse-shoe shape traveling through 18 different parks and 11 municipalities before ending at the Locust Grove trailhead at the South Mountain Reservation in Millburn, NJ. The first 13 miles are pavement and the remaining 23 miles are a mix of trail and road.

I have run the Lenape Trail 4 times and every time it gets more and more fun! It's truly a unique urban trail adventure as you navigate 18 parks and 11 municipalities in Essex County, N.J. There are definitely many more women who have completed the Lenape Trail a lot faster than me - so let's see those times! We need more women on the FKT leader boards.

This Lenape Trail Run was on March 7, 2020. I ran the entire 36 miles with several trail friends. As you can see in the pictures - we had an AMAZING time! One of the highlights anytime you run the Lenape Trail, is stopping at CHIPOTLE for lunch, around mile 26 at the shopping plaza on Prospect Ave/Eagle Rock Ave in West Orange, after you come out of the Eagle Rock Reservation. We hung out there for about 30 minutes while shoveling tacos, chips and Coke in our mouths! It took us about 9 hours and 40 minutes to finish the Lenape Trail - aka PARTY PACE! Can't wait to run it again!
