I did a 1.6 mile warm up around town, then started this route shortly after 6 AM.  I ran past the old Hudson Bay Company building, taking a right for the first steep incline to join up with one of the two main roads in the town.  At the next right, I tackled the steepest and longest incline of the route.  After camping for a week with limited exercise, this was tough!  I was tempted to walk but knew I wouldn't forgive myself if I did that since I would be submitting the route to try for an FKT.  I then took a left onto the main road in town, going past the one hotel and one of the two grocery stores.  At this point, I was still climbing but it wasn't as steep. There was one last hill before the two mile mark; after that it doesn't 'feel' uphill anymore even though there is an incline.  I rounded the basin, slowing down a bit to allow myself a small recovery, then started the descent back into town.  As I passed the hotel, one of my travel companions saw me and gave me a shout of encouragement.  I was controlled but speedy on the steep ascent, rounded the corner, sped up, took the two quick lefts, and then hammered it home!
