Route: Belukha (Kazakhstan)

Location
Kazakhstan
Description

Belukha is the highest elevation of the Altai massif. It has two peaks and it stands just across the Russian- Kazakhstan border, it's well to the north where the borders of these two countries meet those of China and Mongolia . There are small glaciers on the mountain. The eastern peak (4,506 m) is higher than that of the west (4,440 m).

Belukha was climbed for the first time in 1914 by the brothers Tronov. Although the Altai mountains are not as high as other Asian mountains, the place is very remote and the expedition needs to be prepared for a long time.
