The Birkhead Mountain Trail is located in Asheboro, NC. It's located in the northern portion of the Uwharrie Mountains. It is a lollipop shaped trail that starts with a creek crossing and winds up a technical climb then keeps ascending into a wider trail. It has some fun descents, rolling hills, as well as a couple of more creek crossings throughout the loop then begins a good climb back up before descending down the first climb back to the parking area. I have run this trail a couple of times and really enjoyed it. While it's a tough and technical route, it's runnable and there's not usually many people on it.

I'll be attempting this trail on November 24, 2023. I'm doing it self-supported and running with a friend. Weather should be dry but chilly.
