Description

If you know, ultrarunning, then you have heard of the HURT100. A race that takes place on the island of Oahu in Hawaii that consists of five, 20-mile loops, each loop containing a couple out-and-backs. Each loop have approximately 5000 feet of elevation gain. in the mountainous jungle in Honolulu. It is known to have technical terrain consisting of a lot of roots and rocks making it difficult to run. Easily the most iconic route on the island of Oahu.

Since 2001 the Hawaii Ultra Running Team have held this race but unfortunately, this year there was permitting issues with a downed tree from a landslide they had to change the route of the course.

A route that I am very familiar with I wanted to do a full send of the original HURT loop on HURT weekend. I hate that they have to reroute the course this year and wanted to pay tribute to the history of this race. As well as show a decent time can still be put down with the current trail conditions. It was a cool morning I sent it out hard to Manoa where I had a bottle exchange from Felicia Tatulli and then picked up Eric Baese as my pacer we jammed hard up the hill. I took a hard tumble going down Nuuanu (one of a few) where my watch fell off and the I stuffed it in my belt and didn’t look at splits for the remainder of the time. Had another bottle exchange at Nuuanu and began the final climb, had some cramping nothing major just found that sweet spot and pushed hard . I didn’t really have any idea where I was time wise. I thought I had 330 in me but going under 320 truthfully blows my mind. I really wanted this one. 3:18:27
