Description

Beautiful route starting near the longest stretch of beach in the state of Hawaii, Polihale. Polihale State park is Located on the west side of the island, marking the beginning of the breathtaking Napali Coast. You will start on the dirt trail, at a sign that reads “Polihale State Park” under a massive monkey pod tree. You will head eastbound for 3 miles and then take a right, then you’ll be on Kaumualii Hwy. You will follow this stretch of road passing by 2 military gates, and another long beach called Kekaha Beach. At about the 10 mile mark you will take a left on Alae Rd and pass the Kekaha Neighborhood Center. Then you will take another left on Kokee Rd passing the Menehune Market. From there you will begin your 19.5 mile climb, with a steady gain of close to 5000ft of elevation gain. It will be a paved road road until you reach the end. You will have amazing views of the beautiful Waimea Canyon and Kokee Park. It’s one of the best ways to really grasp how large the canyon is. Enjoy the amazing journey!
